Real Business Challenge – Ten Regional Finalists Announced

Nov 10, 2010

Ten schools from across the region have been announced as finalists in a national business competition which will see one group heading to London in January to compete against schools from across the UK.

Launched in 2005, the Real Business Challenge links with local employers and gives young people authentic experience of the business world – this year every school in the region was invited to design a football-themed sports drink to celebrate the World Cup.

Judges have now shortlisted ten schools who will take part in a regional final at Elland Road on 17 November in front of a panel of experts.  The ten finalists are:

1.    Ripon Grammar School
2.    Garforth Community College, Leeds
3.    Boroughbridge High School
4.    Barnsley Academy
5.    Colne Valley Specialist Arts College, Huddersfield
6.    High Storrs School, Sheffield
7.    Sheffield High School
8.    Ridgewood School, Doncaster
9.    Mirfield Free Grammar & Sixth Form
10.    Yarborough School, Lincoln

Schools will receive a brief on the morning of the event and must then present a business case study to a panel of judges made up of members of Yorkshire Forward, the Young People's Enterprise Forum, Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd as well as a mystery celebrity judge.
